My furnace is taking a while to heat my home. Is there something wrong?

There are many reasons your home could be taking a while to heat up, but in terms of your furnace’s efficiency, one of the first things you should consider is its current state and longevity. In general, as furnaces age, they become less efficient, taking longer and longer to function properly and heat your home. This happens with age. Most furnaces have life expectancies of anywhere from 15 to 30 years, depending on the model and components. While other repair possibilities need to be considered first, if you’re noticing a chance in performance and there are no other signs of faulty mechanics, it might be time to upgrade.

There are many guidelines for when to change my furnace filter. How do I know which guidelines to follow?

Even though different styles of furnaces have different guidelines for when to change your furnace filter, most filters generally need to be changed every 3 or 6 months. There are also throwaway filters that should be changed as often as every 30 days, but typically, most filters can be replaced less often. To ensure you follow the correct guidelines, consult a heating professional and your specific model requirements.

My new furnace is pretty tiny. Will it get the job done?
