I’m delighted to receive your question and would be very happy to answer it! But before I do, let me just congratulate you on being the first selected in Happy Harold Says’ ( A weekly Blog Q & A). There are many reasons why your upstairs is much more warmer than your downstairs. One of the main reasons many houses unfortunately suffer from having a warmer second floor is because the house isn’t properly balanced. Having a properly balanced house will ensure that the air flow isn’t interrupted and can make it to the rooms it’s needed the most.
The age of your house can play a huge factor as well. If there are a lot of holes or leaks that air can travel through, it affects the air flow of the house. Which in return brings it right back to balancing. If your cold air ducts are out of balance it’s not going to properly pull away enough air. Same with your supply ducts, if balance and air flow is off balance, your supply ducts won’t be supplying enough cold air to cool down your second floor.
There are different ways to combat these problems, especially if your house wasn’t built with cold air returns. You always could have cold air ducts installed into your home, but if you’d like to go a little less home improvement, we’d recommend having a bigger Air Conditioning Unit installed, along with properly balancing your original duct work by professionally trained technicians that test for air velocity, aspiration, humidity. That way our technicians can force more air into your upstairs and cool down rooms that normally would be much warmer.
Due to the unique nature of every house the best thing to do is have one Harold’s weekly trained, professional technicians come to your home at your convenience, and check out all the possible aspects that are affecting the proper air flow of your home. The weekly training Harolds technicians go through is rigorous and intensive, keeping them up to date on the latest techniques, so they can give you a detailed report and history of your HVAC equipment and also educate you on what HVAC equipment best matches your home needs. You’ll find no salesmen here. Only educating technicians! Give us a call today and we’ll ensure that you are fully comfortable in your home, with work performed by fully trained and certified technicians that we would be proud to have in our own home. 585-336-0557
